10 things: Rants, Thoughts, and Other Things

Rants, Thoughts, and Other Things

It was bound to happen sooner or later. A request to review a “standard template” blog, where the blogger has not made any changes to the template (for better or for worse). Not every blogger wants (or needs) to rework a standard blog template. I even have 2 blogs hosted by Blogger, where I have done nothing more than add some widgets and change some colors.

There’s nothing wrong with using a template, and there is no law that states you MUST change it. If you’re not inclined to fiddle with design elements and all you want to do is blog, go for it! It will, however, make for a very boring review.

So alas, Mystery Man, I really don’t have much to say about your blog, Rants, Thoughts, and Other Things. I’ve been a random reader of your blog, and I have perused through a few more posts this evening to see if I could catch anything—typos, bad grammer, etc—but there’s really nothing. I will say that I don’t understand the huge “Labels” section on your sidebar, each with 1 or 2 items. I’m guessing this has something to do with search engines and such, but I doubt anyone else has ever used it or paid attention. (I must confess to clicking on “crappy tv” as I was intrigued.)

And that’s it. You have a generic Blogger template with content that is getting read. Since I’m assuming that’s your goal, consider it accomplished.

One other caveat: I LOVE to read a Google(ad)-free blog!

(Now if you decide you want to shake that template up, you can always hire Me to design something something for you that’s gritty and masculine. I’m good—and cheap.)

Thanks for the review. I have gone back and forth about that tag column, especially now that I blog ona regular basis. It was nobig when I was a sporatic blogger, but now, it just takes up space. Think I will get rid of it, or at least collapse it.

My reason for using the template is that I prefer to keep thigns simple. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m not open to change. *HINT* *HINT*
