Sure, you’ve asked all your friends and family to look over your site/blog and tell you what they think. They all raved and said it was wonderful–they couldn’t have done better themselves. Do you really think your friends and family want to tell you that your 2 favorite colors, fuschia and lavender, don’t actually go together?

So what makes me think I have the right to tell you things I hate about your site or blog? Experience and knowledge. I’m an instructional designer for a CMS company, and a free-lance web designer. I’ve been on the internet since 1997, and have been creating sites (both good and bad) since then.

How do I critique your site?

I look at the overall design elements of a site and make recommendations based on general best practices, common design theories, readability, navability, and overall common sense. I will NOT say I hate any site or blog. I WILL tell you 10 things that could be improved to make your site or blog better/prettier/easier to read, etc. Afterall, someone may stop by accidentally, but if your site or blog isn’t appealing, easy to read, and easy to navigate, they will quickly leave.

    I would love to hear why you hate my site. I have 3 ideas in my head already about why ANYONE would hate my site… wondering if they’ll match up with yours.
